Nestowe is a fishing port on the east coast of the Old Kingdom[1].

Sabriel

Sabriel, Mogget and Touchstone visit Nestowe during the first book, and find the residents routed, harried and scared for their lives by the Dead. The three travellers see that the villagers are no longer tilling the fields, or living in the village at all. They are holed up on an island out to see; safe from the Dead by the causeway which separates the island from the mainland. Sabriel manages to convince the village Elder that they are no Dead creatures, but that they need safe harbour. The sky darkens as they talk, giving the Dead hiding the village proper courage to begin to edge towards the Living they can sense. The village used to have it's own Stone, but it was sundered and the Dead overran the village, the Stone had only recently been broken and so the doorway into Death was still prominent. The Mordicant which was pursuing Sabriel entered Death and was racing towards the portal.

The Elder lets them onto the island just in time, as they reach the other side the Mordicant reaches Life and is on the other side of the causeway.

When on the island, Sabriel is greeted as the Abhorsen, Touchstone as her swordsman. They help the villagers rid themselves of a Dead creature.
